Split-face stones are the correct choice for electric and wood-burning sauna heaters. Their angular, fractured surface stores more heat and allows water to evaporate efficiently across a wider area, producing softer, more consistent steam. The irregular shape also allows for loose, open placement in the stone basket, which is essential in electric heaters to ensure heat can move freely between stones and heating elements. Good airflow through the stone space directly extends the lifespan of the heating elements. Each Harvia AC3000 stone is selected according to traditional Finnish sauna standards and is durable and fracture-resistant under extreme heat variations.

Note: light (ceramic), soft (soapstone), and smooth (rounded) stones are not suitable for electric heaters and may cause damage or poor performance.

Each natural stone is unique in shape and size. We recommend purchasing an additional box to allow selection of the best stones for fit, form, and function. Additional freight charges apply.

Load stones into the heater basket according to the Harvia installation manual included with your heater. Place stones loosely to allow heat and air to circulate freely between the stones and heating elements. Use only split-face olivine diabase stones in electric heaters. Do not use ceramic, soapstone, or rounded stones, as these may cause damage or poor performance. Replace stones annually or as recommended by Harvia to maintain optimal steam production and element longevity.
